Mother Marie Bohanan is a native New Yorker born and raised in the city of Brooklyn. She was reared in a Christian home; receiving salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, and being baptized in the Holy Ghost. She is an ordained elder in the Lord’s Church. Elder Marie was taught the principles and doctrines of the Word of God from a teenager while attending The Institutional Church of God in Christ under the tutelage of Chief Apostle Carl E. Williams Sr., who is the Founder and Bishop Carl E. Williams, Jr., Pastor. Under this leadership, she received much training and mentoring which has prepared her for her present day ministry.
She served as an Associate Minister of the Institutional C.O.G.I.C., Int’l, President of the Missionary/Evangelist Ministry, Outreach Ministry, and Levite in the Tribe of Judah and Lead singer of the Institutional Radio Choir. Elder Bohanan is married to Deacon Vincent Bohanan and they are the proud parents of three children, Victoria Marie, Krystle Dominique and Vincent Charles Louis.
Mother Bohanan met Chief Apostle in the early 90’s and after meeting Bishop Caldwell and following his Ministry, she stated that he reminded her of her Spiritual Father (Bishop Carl Williams, Sr) which was a dear friend to Bishop Caldwell. She would support Bishop when he would come to New York and surrounding areas, she later adopted Bishop Caldwell as her other Spiritual Father. After much prayer and talking with her Pastor (Bishop Carl Williams, Sr.) she felt led to connect with Celebration of Praise Ministries, Inc. Bishop Williams, Sr. and Bishop Caldwell both agreed to work together in assisting Mother Bohanan in where God was taking her in Ministry.
In June 1994, Mother Marie and her husband Deacon Vincent Bohanan came to the Leadership/Youth Convention and she joined the Organization during the meeting. In September 2000, she was appointed by the Formal Supervisor Lucy M. Smith-Tores to be the Assistant General Supervisor of the National Women’s Department.
Following in 2008, Bishop Caldwell and the Executive Board, appointed Mother Bohanan to the office of General Supervisor of the National Women’s Department. She continues to work faithfully with the Presiding Prelate in moving the Women’s Department to higher heights.
After much prayer and taking Counsel from Chief Apostle, Mother Bohanan answered the Call to Pastor and January 18, 2015, House of Hope Ministries, was launched and Chief Apostle Sanctioned and Blessed the Ministries. Most importantly, It’s the Lord’s doing and it’s Marvelous in God’s eyes.
God in His infinite wisdom divinely summoned her into full-time ministry for the edifying of His people. Elder Marie is a virtuous woman, wife, and minister, lifting up a standard of “true” holiness throughout the body of Christ. She has indeed been called into the Kingdom for “such a time as this”.
